Session Debrief · July 2026
- Personal bests now stay on the finish screen — set an all-time best early in a workout and it's still there when you finish, instead of only flashing up at the moment you hit it
Phase 6 — Ready for Anyone · July 2026
- Easier to read — secondary text and the labels on destructive buttons now meet the WCAG AA contrast standard on every background in the app
- Works without a touchscreen — every control is reachable by keyboard, sheets keep focus inside them, Escape closes the top sheet, and focus returns to where you left it
- Screen-reader support — dialogs, inputs and icon-only buttons all announce properly, and the weight field names its unit
- Import your history from Strong or Hevy — export a CSV from your old app, then Settings → "Import from Strong or Hevy". Years of training come across with their original dates, so every chart and personal best is right from day one
- Import never guesses — exercise names are matched to GymOps names automatically, anything ambiguous asks you first, and Strong exports don't record kg vs lbs so GymOps asks rather than assuming
- Changed your mind? One tap undoes an entire import and puts your data back exactly as it was
- Merge two exercises into one — fold a duplicate or an imported variant into the exercise you already use, and all of its history comes with it (History → pick the exercise → Merge)
- New here? The home screen now says what GymOps is, that your history stays on your device, and what to tap first
- Settings now shows how you've been using the app — workouts started and finished, sets typed versus logged in one tap, and the like. Counted on this device only and never sent anywhere
- There's now a proper About page — what the app is, how a session goes, where your data lives and how to get it out again. Settings → "About GymOps", and it's a normal web page you can send to anyone who asks what you're using
- Add GymOps to your home screen — offered once you've finished a workout, not before
- Google Drive is now opt-in and lives in Settings — finishing a workout never interrupts you with a Google sign-in, and Drive is a copy of your data, never the original
- Two separate reset options — "Reset Workout Data" clears history but keeps your settings, API key and Drive connection; "Clear Everything" removes all of it
- Both reset options offer a one-tap backup before they delete anything
- Updates arrive on their own — a new version is picked up the next time you open the app, with no hard refresh
- The Android back button now works inside the app — it closes the open sheet or steps back a screen instead of leaving GymOps
- Tap "Plan" during a workout to see the day's exercises, what you've finished and what's left
- "Same as last time" follows your working weight — it carries forward a weight you increased mid-session, and opens from last session's top set instead of its warm-up
- Personal-best celebration lasts long enough to actually enjoy
Phase 5 — Programs · July 2026
- A training day you left empty no longer vanishes when you save — Save now names the empty day so you can add an exercise or remove it, instead of the day quietly disappearing
- You choose where a workout starts — without a plan, Start opens the exercise picker instead of dropping you on Seated Shoulder Press; with a multi-day plan, the Start button names the day and "Train a different day…" skips the rotation
- Type a weight and see it in the other unit — "60 kg = 132.3 lbs" appears under the input, handy when plates and logging disagree
- Rest bar slimmed down and gained −30/+30 buttons — nudge the running countdown without leaving the workout, and see more of "This Session" while resting
- Chrome no longer offers to save the AI key as a password — the Settings field is masked without pretending to be a login
- Quick-log now confirms every tap — flash, buzz, and an inline "✓ Logged" so a set can't be logged twice by accident
- Multi-day plans — split a plan into training days (Push / Pull / Legs, Upper / Lower) with their own exercises and targets
- Sessions land on the right day automatically, rotating through your split; tap the day name during a workout to switch
- Idle screen shows which day is up next; picker, Up Next, and the finish summary follow the day you're training
Phase 4 — Trust & Data Safety · July 2026
- Rest timer length — choose 1:00, 1:30, 2:00 or 3:00 in Settings; the countdown after each set uses your pick
- Correct file dates — exports and backups saved late in the evening are no longer named with tomorrow's date
- Pinch-zoom enabled — GymOps no longer blocks zooming, so any screen can be magnified; input text sizes were tuned so iOS doesn't auto-zoom while typing
- Auto rest timer — the 90-second rest countdown now starts by itself after every logged set on strength exercises; Skip dismisses it, and the Rest button still works as before
- Backup & restore — Settings now has "Back Up All Data" (your complete workout database as a single file) and "Restore from Backup" for moving to a new phone or recovering from data loss
- Storage-full warning — if your device runs out of storage, a banner warns you immediately and offers a one-tap backup; your workout keeps running safely in memory
- Decimal weights — 62.5 kg is now typeable on the iPhone keypad (decimal keyboard, comma or dot both accepted)
- Undo fix — Undo now always removes the last set of the exercise on screen; it could previously delete a set of a different exercise logged later in the session
- Data protection — if the stored database ever becomes unreadable, GymOps preserves it and shows a recovery screen with a backup download; nothing is wiped without your explicit say-so
Phase 3 — AI & Plans · July 2026
- Weekly muscle coverage — the This Week card now shows which muscle groups you've hit, with set counts, and which are still waiting
- Exercise catalogue expanded to 114 exercises, organised by muscle group
- Exercise picker — search box, muscle-group filter chips, and a sectioned catalogue below your recent exercises
- Plan nudges — set a weekly session target on your plan and get a nudge when the week is slipping; plans without a target nudge after a few idle days
- PR celebration — beating your all-time best on any exercise now gets the moment it deserves
- Home screen dashboard — week view of training days, week streak, and a hook from your last session (beat your best!)
- Quick log — one tap logs the same weight and reps as last session; repeats your last set when you go beyond it
- Exercise history — tap History on the home screen to see a progression chart, stats, and session log for any exercise
- Workout plans — create named training blocks with exercises, target sets×reps, duration, and objectives
- Active plan guides your session: exercise picker shows plan exercises first with targets; Up Next follows plan order
- Plan adherence shown on the completed screen; expiry nudge when duration is up
- AI session summary — tap "AI Summary" after finishing to get a natural language breakdown powered by Claude
- AI summary includes plan context: week number, objectives, and what was completed vs skipped
Phase 2.1 — Usability · May 2026
- Exercise picker sorted by most recently used; A–Z toggle available
- Export workout history as date-filtered CSV from Settings
- Clear All Data de-emphasised to avoid accidental taps
- Confirm before discarding an incomplete session

- Delete individual sets; undo last set
- Rest timer between sets (90 seconds)
- Custom "Other" exercise with automatic cardio detection
- Auto-save to Google Drive on session finish
